According to the Manchester Evening News, City new man Raheem Sterling will miss out on the chance to debut against sister club Melbourne City tomorrow.
City’s £44m addition has travelled and trained with the squad in Australia but he will not feature in the game against the A-League side, Pellegrini confirmed.
Speaking at the pre-Melbourne press conference, Pellegrini said: “It’s too early for him.”
“He’s just arrived… so he must work the same as all the international players that are just starting to work this week.
“Maybe in the next week he will play a bit.”
City’s game against Melbourne will be shown live at on City’s official site at 8am tomorrow morning and though Sterling will not be involved, it will still be well worth watching.
A more youthful City side overcame Adelaide in a behind close doors game this week and City will now step up preparations against fellow City Football Group members.
Sterling could make his debut in the International Champions Cup competition, with City playing against last season’s Champions League opponents Roma on Tuesday before a clash against the mighty Real Madrid on Saturday.
