UPDATE: According to John Percy from the Telegraph, Fabian Delph’s most likely destination is Manchester City and the deal would cost just £8m. The news was echoed by Jason Burt, also from the Telegraph.
It is thought that the Blues are stepping up their interest in the England international.
Manchester City are ready to take advantage of an extremely low buy-out clause in Villa captain Fabian Delph’s new contract, according to the Mirror.
Per a story from James Nursey, the England man is available for a mere £10 million because of the terms he agreed on backing January, when he penned a new deal.
It came as quite a shock when Delph signed a new contract with the Villains, who at the time were in great danger of relegation.
He was due to leave on a free but stayed loyal to the Midlands side and played a fundamental role in Villa’s survival exit and remarkable run to the FA Cup final.
Delph has been linked in the past with City and it has been commonly reported that the Blues are in need of ‘home-grown players’.
James Milner, Frank Lampard and Dedryck Boyata have all departed the Etihad already and that means City must fill the void by investing in players who meet the all-important quota.
Jack Wilshere has been touted as a possible target, but it seems as though the chances of bringing him in from Arsenal are extremely slim.
And now it seems that Delph is an appealing possibility for Manuel Pellegrini at a very cheap price of £10 million for a player who is now a regular in the England squads and is of course home-grown, which is so useful for City in their current position.
