It would appear as though City are almost set to complete their first deal of the summer, with Turkish starlet Enes Unal set to join the club as soon as this weekend – according to Bursaspor president Recep Bolukbasi.
The news had been flowing around for a couple of days now that City were keen on the 18-year old and now Bolukbasi has confirmed that a deal has been struck to bring into the talented Turkishman.
“We have an agreement with Manchester City. Enes will go to England at the weekend to complete the transfer.” Bolukbasi said.
Following that, Bursaspor’s official website then published an article confirming that the agreement had been finalised and that a medical was set to take place in the next few days.
The original reports were that City would pay a fee of £2m and Bursaspor would then take 10% of the next sale, should there be one.
According to Jack Pitt-Brooke from the Indepedent, Unal may not travel to Manchester for his medical until he has sorted out his UK visa.
The general consensus is that Unal is not expected to be part of first-team plans anytime soon and is more of a prospect that City aim to develop before integrating. A loan move could be on the cards, but it’s also likely that he will join up with Patrick Vieira’s EDS side, similarly to Kelechi Iheanacho.
When the move does happen, Unal will become the youngest ever Turkish player to move abroad.
