City could make one final bid of £40 million plus add-ons for Raheem Sterling says Chris Wheeler at the Daily Mail. This comes after The Blues have already had two bids for the Englishman rejected by Liverpool, but are hopeful the bid can persuade Liverpool to loosen their grip on the 20-year-old.
City are also allegedly hopeful that Liverpool’s capture of Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim can help The Blues finally nab Sterling after weeks and weeks of speculation. Liverpool’s newest Brazilian was reportedly a target for City, as well as a number of other clubs in Europe, but has now signed for the Merseyside club pending a post-Copa America medical.
With that deal sealed for The Reds, City are hopeful they’re more willing to let Sterling go. Nevertheless, the third (and possibly final) bid of £40 million plus add-ons, which are likely to take the deal closer to the asking price, is still substantial and won’t be taken lightly by Liverpool.
With Chelsea reportedly reluctant to match what City are offering, and no other team looking likely to actually make a move for the 20-year-old attacker, this could be the bid which finally puts City in the driving seat in the Sterling deal. Hopefully, if this saga is over soon, we can get onto other targets like Paul Pogba and Kevin De Bruyne.
