City could challenge a number of clubs in England and France in order to sign Chelsea youngster Charly Musonda this summer say Foot Mercato, although the Manchester side are more keen on a permanent deal than some of the other teams being linked with a move.
Aside from City, 18-year-old Musonda has been linked with Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, both of whom are also keen to sign Musonda on a permanent deal rather than a temporary one, while Marseille, Monaco and PSV Eindhoven prefer the idea of a loan spell for the midfielder.
The young Belgian only signed a contract extension at Stamford Bridge in March, a deal which would see him stay with The Blues until 2019. However, he’s keen to play football at a good level next season, sparking interest from a number of clubs. He’s aware that he’s likely to struggle for this with Chelsea, and is such may be open to a move.
In terms of a permanent deal, City are thought to be ahead of Arsenal and PSG in the race to sign him, although he wouldn’t come cheap, with Chelsea thought to want at least £7 million for him. If City were willing to pay that and got their man, he would likely join Patrick Roberts as the new kids on the block at Eastlands.
If Chelsea can’t agree a permanent deal with any of the big clubs reportedly interested, then Charly Musonda is likely to instead spend next season with PSV, whose size in the Netherlands gives them an advantage over Monaco and Marseille.
