City are now ahead in the race to sign Bursaspor man Enes Unal and could complete the deal in the coming days according to Fanatik in Turkey, with the striker set to become City’s first signing of the summer unless something else is confirmed prior to that.
With City keen to reduce the average age of the squad, 18-year-old Unal could represent fantastic value at just £2.1 million although would likely head straight into the Elite Development Squad for the coming season.
Since 2013, Unal has played 35 games in Turkey’s top flight, with 34 of those being substitute appearances. Despite that, he’s managed to score 4 goals for Bursaspor, although just 1 of those came in the season just gone. He’s still managed to garner interest from some of the top teams in Europe, with City and Chelsea having both reportedly been in talks.
It looks like City might have moved ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign him however, having agreed a deal of a little over £2 million for the striker, who made his debut for Turkey’s senior national side against Luxembourg back in March. The deal is also likely to include a 10% sell-on clause, with Bursaspor claiming a tenth of his next fee.
