Andrea Pirlo was pictured in New York with Ferran Soriano, adding to rumours that he could be set to agree a move to Major League Soccer when he leaves Juventus. He looked likely to join Sydney at one stage, but in a u-turn now looks set to sign for New York City.
The Italian international took in a New York Yankees game with Soriano, and saw them beat the Detroit Tigers while having talks with the chief executive of both Manchester City and their North American counterpart. After the baseball, Pirlo departed the Bronx-based ground without taking any interviews, which could be a sign he doesn’t want to disclose anything just yet.
If the Juventus man did sign for New York, he would likely become their third designated player along with Frank Lampard and David Villa, and rightly so. However, he wouldn’t make the trip across the Atlantic just yet, possibly staying with Juventus until at least January. Despite that, sources to the New York Post say a deal could be confirmed this week.

And Pirlo’s ex-teammate at Juventus and with Italy, Sebastian Giovinco, now also in the MLS with Toronto, said “I spoke to Andrea and told him what I think: that this is an experience worth having. Of course, then only he can decide his future.”
Pirlo has played 155 games for Juventus since signing for them in 2011.
