According to Irfan Redzepagic – agent to Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko – his client is unlikely to leave City this summer, despite there being interest from many clubs in the services of the 29-year-old, who for a time looked set to depart Eastlands this summer following a few mixed years in the north-west.
However, after an interview between Redzepagic and Nezavisne he now looks almost certain to stay with The Blues past the current window, news which may not be well-received by some sections of the City support.
Speaking in an interview, Dzeko’s agent said “every day they are linking him to another team. First it was Atletico, then Juventus and now Roma, Chelsea … These are all journalists’ guesses and speculations, repeating with every transfer window. I’m bored with repeating that there’s nothing in it.”
“Edin is currently on holidays. He hasn’t rejected any offers, because there simply weren’t any. That is the whole truth of it.”
“Edin has a contract with City and is happy at the club.”
Dzeko’s 2014/15 season was one of his less successful in a sky blue shirt, which did lead to speculation he could depart this summer, especially following the arrival of Wilfried Bony from Swansea City in January. However, Redzepagic still believes his client will stay.
“Where the playing time is concerned, several factors affected it. There were two injuries that took their toll but, all things considered, there’s no reason for dissatisfaction with his time in the club where he won four trophies.”
“Therefore, the chances of him leaving are almost zero.”
This could open the door for Stevan Jovetic to depart the club this summer, with Pellegrini seemingly favouring one up front now, negating the need for four strikers. If Dzeko is unlikely to leave, then Jovetic seems the more likely candidate, with the Montenegrin being linked with moves back to Serie A following two poor seasons in England.
