According to the Mirror, Jack Wilshere is the next transfer target for Manchester City with the club recently having a fresh bid for Raheem Sterling turned down.
City are expected to make a £30 million move for the Arsenal midfielder after a string of links with the England man.
City could make a new move for top target Sterling, but it is now understood they are keen on his England teammate Wilshere, who ended the season strongly after a lengthy lay-off – recently bagged two exceptional goals in England’s 3-2 win against Slovenia.
It has been widely acknowledged that the Blues are in desperate need to boost the number of home-grown players in their ranks and Wilshere fits the profile, despite his comments last week that he would not move to a club purely because of the need to fill the quota.
Although his talents on the pitch are there to see, the 23-year old is no stranger to controversy and was today fined £40,000 after admitting to a charge following derogatory chants in Arsenal’s post-FA Cup winning victory parade.
With City failing in their efforts to sign Sterling presently, a move for Wilshere makes sense but there are question marks are to whether this deal would be possible considering his recent form and the fact Arsene Wenger will surely not budge and sell to a rival for a low fee.
