City are set to challenge Liverpool and Arsenal in the race to sign Charlton defender Joe Gomez say The Express, after a successful first senior season with The Addicks in the Championship. He played over 20 games for the second tier side, and could now be an £8 million target for The Blues, The Reds or The Gunners.
The defender only turned 18 in May, but despite that has become a regular in the Charlton squad during the 2014-15 season and has started to attract interest from the big clubs again, having already rejected them in order to sign professionally at The Valley.
Gomez would likely go back out on loan if he did join one of the top teams being linked with him, and given how regularly he’s appeared this season that could prove a successful move for a player who’s already appearing at England under-19 level.
£8 million is the price being rumoured for the Charlton youngster, and some may be unwilling to pay that, especially given how much money is already being mentioned in regards to players like Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne this summer. However, if he did sign and ended up being a successful signing, that £8 million would be a worthwhile move.
