City could attempt a swap deal with Roma this summer according to Gianluca Di Marzio and Sky Italia, after reported interest from the Italian side in Blues striker Edin Dzeko, who is being linked with a move away from Eastlands after four and a half mixed years in the north-west of England.
Arsenal have previously been linked with a move for the Bosnian attacker, but despite that Roma could also be on the trail to sign him. His agent said earlier in 2015 that his client would only sign for a “big club” – immediately ruling out all the links to Turkish football which persisted in the transfer gossip at the time, although Roma would likely be included in that.
First contact between the Serie A side and Dzeko’s agent has already been made according to Di Marzio, with Roma set to initiate talks about a possible transfer soon. And while it could be a straight cash fee, the Italian journalist believes there’s a possibility City could ask for Adam Ljajic to be included, and while this is not a certainty it’s certainly a possibility.
The Serbian international Ljajic signed for Roma from Fiorentina in 2013, for a little under £8 million. The attack-minded midfielder almost signed for Manchester Untied alongside Zoran Tosic in 2009. However, due to work permit issues the Serb was unable to complete a move from Partizan Belgrade and instead joined Fiorentina in 2010, when he was supposed to join United.
