According to the Times, City are one of a number of European clubs in the chase for Manchester United’s Angel Di Maria, who could be leaving The Red Devils after just one season, a season which was much less successful than he’d have hoped.
The Argentina international joined the Old Trafford side in 2014 for £59.7 million, becoming one of the most expensive players of all time but has been somewhat underwhelming in the months since, which has seen him linked with moves away, mainly to Paris Saint-Germain.
For a time, there were rumours that Di Maria was unhappy in Manchester after his house was subject to a robbery, while he and his family were present. They ended up living in a hotel for some time, after which there was talk he was eager to move away from the club he’d just signed for.
Usually City would be the last club linked with a player like Di Maria, but The Times believe that Txiki Begiristain has already contacted the Argentine’s representatives, and asked about the possibility of a cross-town move. If he completed it, he would join an Argentinian contingent which already contains Sergio Aguero, Pablo Zabaleta, Martin Demichelis and Willy Caballero.
