Manchester City are set to table another offer for Raheem Sterling in the next 48 hours to begin their summer transfer business, according to the Mirror.
Sterling has been heavily linked with City ever since it emerged he was unhappy at Liverpool and keen to get out.
City had previously had a bid of £30m turned down by the Anfield side, but remain unfazed and will step up their offer with a fresh offer of £40 million.
It is understood that Liverpool will not accept anything less than £50m but City do not share the same view on that valuation and will not go any further than £40m and believe that will be enough to lure the 20-year old hotshot in.
City have identified Sterling as a primary target having monitored his situation at Liverpool. They believe they can take advantage of his Anfield problems and bring him to help the homegrown quota they so desperately need to fill. Sterling is of course seen as one of the blossoming talents in the game and has been tipped for a great future in the game.
With FFP rules relaxed and the club ready to adhere, City are free to splash the cash and Sterling would be the catalyst for other moves.
Paul Pogba has been touted as a potential signing and the latest reports indicate that a official bid is in the pipeline.
Wolfsburg sensation Kevin De Bruyne is also a target.
Marseille’s Gianelli Imbula is a new name that has cropped up. The Mirror saying that City are ready to join the race for the £22m-rated French U-21 international.
