There’s mixed signals coming out of Italy surrounding the situation of Paul Pogba, with some reports suggesting Juventus are confident he’ll stay with the club while others suggest they’re willing to accept a fee for him, as long as it matches their expectations.
Pogba is thought to be one of the top targets for City this summer, although it had previously been suggested he could stay with Juventus in favour of getting a move to Barcelona next summer. Despite those reports, City haven’t given up hope on signing the former United man.
However, Giuseppe Marotta – chief executive at Juve – has said no club is yet to make an approach for the prized French midfielder, saying “there has been no official expression of interest in him.”
He also expressed that he believes Pogba wants to say, saying “and I am convinced Pogba wants to stay with us.”
“I repeat the future project that Juventus have is based on holding on to our best players.”
While that was going on at Tutto Mercato, Sky Italia and in particular Ghilda Pensante were stating that Juve would in fact accept a hefty fee for the young midfielder this summer – no less than £58 million.
Talking about the whole situation, Pensante said “They will just wait and only consider any official offers over €80million – no less.”
“Any offers that are smaller, Juventus wouldn’t even consider it and would keep the player until next season.”
“So we will have to see if there is an offer from Man City or other big clubs.”
Pogba may still want to hold out and see if a move to Barcelona is available next season, but if not then it’s looking increasingly like the 22-year-old could depart Turin in the coming weeks or months.
