‘Informal talks’ have begun between Kevin De Bruyne’s representatives and Manchester City, according to Manchester Evening News.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini has placed the Belgian international towards the top of his list of transfer targets as he looks to strengthen his squad for the upcoming season. The 23 year old said:
“I know there are some informal contacts, but we said to everybody, ‘You have to go to Wolfsburg, not to me and that’s the way to go.”
The 23-year-old is a sought-after figure after enjoying a fantastic season for Wolfsburg and breaking the record for the most number of assists in a season. But his future remains unclear.
“I always said I’m going to talk with my club first when the season is over.
“The season is not over. That starts probably next week or the week after, but I’m also on vacation”
These words will encourage City to consolidate their pursuit of the midfielder with a bid. As well as breaking the assists record, the midfielder also had a prolific season in front of goal scoring 18 goals for club and country. Du Bruyne used to ply his trade for Chelsea but did not feature for them as much as he would have liked.
