Sergio Berti, agent to City left-back Aleksandar Kolarov, has reportedly met with representatives of Inter and AC Milan ahead of a possible transfer from The Blues to one of the Italian sides this summer according to the Manchester Evening News, with the Serbian keen to play in Serie A again during his career.
Roberto Mancini worked with the 29-year-old at City, and he was the man who brought the defender to England five years ago, for around £17 million. Meanwhile, AC Milan have been linked in more recent times, but links have slowed with Sinisa Mihajovic now looking unlikely to be the manager at AC soon – he had reportedly asked for Kolarov to be on the shopping list this summer.
However, a move does still look unlikely even if Kolarov’s agent has held talks with the Serie A sides as they’re unwilling and unable to match what he’s currently paid at City, from whom he looked likely to depart after being beaten to a starting place by Gael Clichy for much of the season.
He’s previously acknowledged his desire to move back to Italy at some point, but accepts the move is difficult to pull off. However, it isn’t difficult to see him taking a wage cut if he truly wants to return to mainland Europe.
