City may be targeting a move for Besiktas’ 24-year-old defender Pedro Franco, with HaberTurk reporting that The Blues want to capitalise on his good form and supposed unsettled status at the club, following a fallout with now ex-manager Slaven Bilic last season.
Franco has been in good form in Turkey’s top division, which has earned him a place in Colombia’s squad for the upcoming Copa America in his home continent. He moved to Besiktas in 2013, following over 100 appearances for Millonarios before the age of 22. However, he struggled to break into the team when he first arrived in Turkey, which led to speculation he could leave.
He eventually broke into the team and got a call-up for Colombia last year, from which he’s now earned five caps for his country. The Turkish publication HaberTurk believe that City sent scouts to watch Franco on a regular basis in the closing months of the 2014/15 season, and could be watching him again at the Copa America.
This may be a rumour which comes to nothing, as seems to be the trend linking us with young defenders in recent times, a result of our poor defensive form this season. Although, at the small price he’s likely to cost, the 24-year-old would not be a bad option.
