David Villa is reportedly open to a Premier League loan at the end of the MLS season in a few months according to the Manchester Evening News, following the trend of a number of players plying their trade in North America, who come and spend a bit of time in England during the close-season across the pond.
The main purpose of this is to keep fitness, which is why Villa and many other NYCFC players went out on loan prior to the start of the season, including Frank Lampard – although his temporary move was extended whilst others’ expired.
Last year, the former Barcelona player David Villa spent some time at another City Football group club, Melbourne City, although barely featured during his time in Australia. He’s been a regular in the New York City team which has struggled for form all season, getting their first win in three months on Saturday night.
If a short-term solution is needed, City are believed to be content with offering Villa a temporary switch to the Premier League following the end of the Major League Soccer season, as was suggested when Manchester City had a striker predicament late in 2014. However, with NYCFC preparations firmly underway nothing ever came of the deal.
Villa has scored 3 goals in 11 games for New York City.
