City could be set to start the bidding for Raheem Sterling, with the Mirror reporting they’re set to offer £25 million plus another £5m in bonuses following a verbal offer made to Liverpool earlier in the week. United had previously been linked with making the first move for the attacker.
The Blues have been linked with a move for Raheem Sterling for some time, and are favourites in the eyes of some to capture the midfielder this summer, with him keen to leave Liverpool behind; however, the youngster has his pick of clubs as he tries to organise a move away from Anfield.
There were reports City made a verbal offer to Liverpool earlier this week, as well as including a promise they’d make a formal offer following on from that. While Liverpool look unlikely to accept a current bid of £25 million plus bonuses, it could make the situation more active and also encourage the start of a bidding war.
Some had said Sterling was angling for a move back to the capital, having already put his house in Southport up for sale and due to the fact that the interview in which his agent claimed he wanted to leave appeared in a London newspaper it was believed Chelsea or Arsenal may be the frontrunners. Unwilling to accept that, City could soon open the bidding as they look to start the revamp of their squad this summer.
