John Guidetti may be a target for Lyon this summer, as he goes into his final month as a Manchester City player before his contract expires at the end of June. L’Equipe report Lyon want to sign the Swede if star striker Alexandre Lacazette departs from the Ligue 1 side in the coming transfer window.
Guidetti has been expected to leave The Blues for some time now, with the potential that he initially showed – especially in that loan spell at Feyenood, which seems so long ago now – not really showing up on a regular basis. He’s spent this season on loan at Celtic with City teammate Jason Denayer, but has been less successful than the Belgian; however, the striker did score 15 goals in 35 games in Scotland.
He was linked with a permanent move to Celtic Park during the season, especially in January, with City allegedly keen to push the deal through so they could get some money for him instead of allowing him to leave for free in the coming window. He was also linked with moves to Italy and Portugal. However, it now appears Lyon want him to replace Lacazette, one of their hottest talents and someone who is likely to be the subject of a lot of speculation over the coming weeks.
Apart from being linked with Arsenal and Liverpool, Lacazette was also linked with a move to City a few months ago, although speculation came to nothing and for a while it appeared he may not even leave his current side. That might still be the case, but if he does depart from the French side then they allegedly want Guidetti to fill the void left by the 24-year-old. If the Swede’s records at Celtic and Feyenoord are anything to go by, he wouldn’t be a bad replacement.
