According to AfricanFootball.com, City’s head of recruitment Gary Worthington is set to travel to New Zealand for nine days for the Under-20 World Cup and watch Nigeria’s first two games of the tournament, against Brazil and North Korea. He is set to travel after being told of some possible talents in the Nigerian under-20 side.
AfricanFootball.com, who are labelling this story as an exclusive, says that Worthington told them “I will spend nine days in New Zealand during which I will watch the first two matches of Nigeria vs Brazil and North Korea. We have been alerted about some potentials in the team.”
The website believe that various agents have recommended players of the likes of Izu Omego, Ifeanyi Matthew and Bernard Bulbwa to City, and there will be several players under the watchful eye of Gary Worthington in his time at the World Cup. He will also be keeping an eye on the current City players from this Nigerian side, which included Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidiebere Nwakali (who is currently on loan at Malaga until 2017).
City are also believed to be watching some players from the Right To Dream Academy, such as Yaw Yeboah, with City keen to keep an eye on the players they’ve signed from the charity in recent years.
Gary Worthington is also believed to be heading off to the under-17 World Cup in October and November.
