Wolfsburg hotshot Kevin De Bruyne has revealed to German newspaper Bild that he would not be against the idea of returning to England.
The 23-year old was moved on by Jose Mourinho and Chelsea a year ago and has taken the Bundesliga by storm this season.
City have been heavily linked with the Belgian recently, though German giants Bayern Munich have also been touted as possible suitors.
But this news should sit nicely with City fans as the former Genk man has made it clear that he has no intentions to go back to Stamford Bridge.
“I think, to be honest, that I would not return to Chelsea as long as he [Mourinho]is in charge,” De Bruyne said.
“I know that I like the Bundesliga, and it always did me good.
“But I don’t fear to return to England, or to play in Spain. I believe I can make it there.
“You can’t compare my time at Chelsea with what is now.
“If it’s like that [with Munich interested] then Bayern have to talk to Wolfsburg. Then those responsible will know what the deal is.”
Bayern have a reputation of bringing in the brightest talents in Germany; Mario Gotze, Manuel Neuer, Sebastian Rode and Jan Kirchoff are all prime examples of that. They are capable of turning a player’s head and the fact that De Bruyne has spoke about Bayern publicly suggests that he would at least consider it. But the interest from City is strong and if City are serious enough about rebuilding their team, then moving for Kevin De Bruyne wouldn’t be a bad start.
