Manchester City may face being snubbed along with Manchester United by reported target Raheem Sterling, with the Liverpool man allegedly much more keen on a move back to London according to the Daily Star.
In recent weeks, the youngster’s relationship with his current club has deteriorated severely, with his agent saying recently that his client would not sign a new Reds contract even if he was being paid £900,000 per week. It should be noted that that comment came in the London Evening Standard, which could indicate they are indeed angling for a London club.
Another possible indicator that Sterling is set to return to London having grown up there is that he’s put his house in Southport up for sale. Were he staying on Merseyside or moving to Manchester, it is unlikely he would want or need to do this.
City have been heavily linked with completing a deal for the attacker, and were at one point thought to be leading the chase, as well as being ready to make the 20-year-old one of their highest-paid players in a bid to make him turn sky blue.
If Sterling truly is angling for a London side, then Arsenal and Chelsea are likely to be at the forefront of the running for the Jamaica-born winger, although perhaps it might not be wise to rule City out just yet.
