According to Spanish newspaper AS, Sergio Aguero is once again a target for Real Madrid, with Florentino Perez reportedly willing to spend £64 million on the Argentine who appears to have regained his form this season and struggled much less with injuries after a couple of tough campaigns for the star striker.
In the past, Aguero has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, with Perez being an admirer for some years now. He wanted to sign the Argentina international back in his Atletico Madrid days, but the club rivalry between Atleti and Real made it unlikely, and Aguero signed for City instead.
Now, with Real Madrid having lost the Champions League and finishing second to Barcelona, they may be looking to bring in someone of Aguero’s calibre to help them recover next season, even if he is likely to cost a fair amount of money.
This move does seem somewhat unlikely, due to City’s seeming unwillingness to sell a player who has been a remarkable asset to them since 2011 and who just won the Premier League’s Golden Boot, but a £64 million fee would give them a lot more money to buy targets this summer. However, many would be hoping that Aguero will spearhead a resurgence to the title challenge next season, instead of making the move back to La Liga.
