Scott Sinclair has signed a permanent deal with Aston Villa, after starting a loan spell with the Birmingham club in January. This permanent move was triggered after Aston Villa secured their survival from relegation, amid fears they wouldn’t be in the Premier League next season.
Since signing for The Villans in January, Sinclair has featured much more regularly for Villa than he ever did at City, playing 11 times for his now permanent team, scoring 3 goals. That came after just four competitive appearances for The Blues in the first half of this season.
Sinclair has looked likely to leave for some time now, with his 2012 move to Manchester never really paying off – Roberto Mancini was reportedly never able to tell the former Swansea man quite why he’d been signed by the club. He had a loan spell at West Brom last season which was less than successful, before joining another Midlands club – Villa a few months ago.
Speaking about the move, Sinclair said he was “happy” and that it was “great for me and my family to be settled now.”
He won’t go down as a City great, but there will be many Blues wishing him well as he tries to reboot his career with Aston Villa.
