Manchester City may move to make a £40 million move for Raheem Sterling this summer according to The Mirror, despite Liverpool wanting to reassure their young starlet that he’s a big part of their plans for the future. This is the latest in a long saga surrounding Sterling’s future, which has also seen Chelsea linked with a move for the winger in recent weeks.
Along with a £40m bid, The Blues are also reportedly willing to pay Sterling up to £150,000 per week in order to persuade him to come to Eastlands (although the Express have that figure at £200k instead) , whereas his current employers allegedly only offering up to £90k for their star youngster. In recent weeks and months this has led to heavy speculation clubs will make moves for Sterling this summer. City are linked on an almost daily basis, and could easily make a move this summer.
Sterling is expected to have a meeting with the Anfield bosses soon to inform them he doesn’t want a new contract, and this news led to him being booed by Liverpool fans (at least, if you believe the media) following the announcement of Sterling as The Reds’ Young Player of the Season.
Many will be hoping City can complete a move for Sterling, with his age and ability/potential making him a valuable asset for the club who gets his signature.
