Liverpool have reportedly once again taken up interest in City’s Stevan Jovetic according to the Mirror, as The Reds look to fix up their attack going into the new season, with Mario Balotelli among the supposed Liverpool casualties on their way out in the coming transfer window.
Stevan Jovetic has endured another poor season at Eastlands, despite having so much promise when he arrived from Fiorentina in the summer of 2013 with a fairly hefty price-tag, arriving alongside Alvaro Negredo. Neither player looks likely to be at City next season, and City may just be hoping to re-coup some of the money spent on the injury-hit Jovetic.
Liverpool’s attack hasn’t been able to recover from the loss of the monumental talent that is Luis Suarez last summer, scoring significantly fewer goals than last year. New signings Balotelli and Rickie Lambert haven’t proved to be overly successful purchases, and could both leave in the summer. Brendan Rodgers allegedly wants Jovetic as their replacement at a relatively cheap £12 million, and he could well be successful in that.
Many have thought for several months that Jovetic could leave in the summer, with clubs in Italy the most heavily-rumoured destinations. However, links to Anfield have been consistent, and the promise of first-team football could persuade the Montenegrin to make a move to Merseyside.
