Having only been at the club a matter of months, Wilfried Bony has come out in the press to talk about fellow countryman and influence Yaya Toure, amidst heavy speculation that the 32-year-old could be on his way out of the club in the summer.
Talking to reporters, Bony said I talk to him about it all the time. He knows what I think. He brought me here so he needs to stay. He told me about this being a big club, how we were the champions.”
“He told me it was a club that always fights – and I am always a fighter so I liked that. He told me about the pressure, everything.”
“For sure everyone wants to keep him here. He’s a legend for this club for sure, he always will be. We hope he stays, he’s a big player here and we know everything he is doing for the club.”
There’s been speculation on-and-off for over a year surrounding Yaya’s future with the club, which seems to have intensified recently. Internazionale are thought to be in for him this summer, with Roberto Mancini keen to sign the Ivorian midfielder for a second time, while City may want to use him as a bargaining chip in the race for Paul Pogba. Or, obviously, he could still be here next season, although he may not play such a big role in the squad.
