City could be struggling to bring in one of their supposed long-term targets this summer, with The Metro reporting that Wolfsburg are valuing star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne at over £58 million, as they attempt to ward off potential suitors for the Belgian former Chelsea man.
For several months now, links to Kevin De Bruyne have persisted in the transfer gossip sections of various news sites, despite accompanying reports that he wouldn’t be coming. If the reports are true, and he is being valued at £58 million, then he probably isn’t arriving at Eastlands any time soon, with that money likely to be better used elsewhere.
With some still unsure on whether City will have restrictions on their spending this summer due to Financial Fair Play, targets would have to be carefully considered and £58 million simply would not be good value. For that money, The Blues could likely fill one or two of the positions that are crying out for replacements, whereas De Bruyne may struggle to get enough games, as he did in his time at Chelsea.
De Bruyne has got 19 assists this season, more than any other player in the top five leagues in Europe, which is at least part of the reason for the level of mooted interest in the 23-year-old.
