City could once again be trying to kill two birds with one stone in terms of the transfer market, with The Blues reportedly interested in signing Tottenham’s Danny Rose in the coming window (according to the Daily Mirror) in the hope of increasing the quota of home-grown players in the squad.
If this interest is true, City will also be bidding to improve their options at left-back, with their current players in that area not seeming sufficient anymore. Aleksandar Kolarov could very easily be on his way back to Italy in the summer after four seasons at Eastlands, and Clichy’s form has been erratic for much of this season, although it has arguably been better than last year’s.
In terms of price, Rose could prove to be extremely good value if City were to sign him, with Spurs reportedly valuing the 24-year-old at just £10 million, despite the fact that he’s managed to retain his place in the first team at White Hart Lane for much of the last two seasons, limiting the amount of appearances achieved by summer signing Ben Davies.
City are unlikely to be the only team challenging for Danny Rose’s signature in the summer, with Chelsea also allegedly interested in signing the former England youth international from their London rivals.
Since signing for Spurs for £100,000 from Leeds in 2007, Rose has gone on to make 90 appearances in all competitions for the North London team, scoring 6 goals along the way. He’s also had loan spells at Watford, Bristol City, Peterborough and Sunderland.
