Reports: Yaya to be offered big-money move

With heavy speculation linking Yaya Toure with a summer move to Inter Milan continuing to intensify, Inter could now be displaying they are deadly serious about signing the Ivorian, with the Mirror reporting they could be willing to pay the player £54 million over the course of his contract to join the Serie A club.

Up to now it looked like speculation surrounding a possible rejoining with Roberto Mancini was likely false – and that may still be the case – but if such hefty figures are being thrown about, they very well may be interested.

One thing that may suggest the reports are less than true is the fact that Inter supposedly want to pay that £54 million over a five-year deal. With Toure turning 32 next month, surely a five-year deal is out of the question? If it’s true, it may be some of the riskiest business Inter have ever attempted, with the underlying threat of Yaya becoming too old always on the table from now.

With Yaya starting to look like his best years at the club are behind him, and with fans starting to turn on him, berating him for his lack of work rate or his ambitious yet mostly skewed and wasteful shots, it may be time for City and the Ivorian to part ways after an eventful but otherwise successful five years. If he does depart for Italy this summer, he certainly won’t be forgotten quickly by anyone at the club.
