Joe Hart: 6 – Hart didn’t really have a lot to do in all honesty and that’s reflected in the rating I’ve given him, a bang average 6. He made no notable mistakes that I can recall and produced when he was called upon in the match. Nice one, Joe.
Bacary Sagna: 5 – Nothing special from Sagna. The majority of Leicester’s attacks came down that right hand side and on numerous occasions Sagna was caught on the back foot. Other than that he was ok; he made 1 or 2 tackles and rarely lost a header when the ball was hit long.
Martin Demichelis: 6 – It’s becoming the usual for Demichelis now to have good, solid games. He made a variety of important tackles throughout the match and cleared the ball when needed. Martin’s style of play revolves around sensibility and it showed again against Leicester as he always chose the smart option.
Eliaquim Mangala: 7 – I thought Mangala was our best defensive number this week. Hardly put a foot wrong all game despite once or twice diving in unnecessarily. He also played a handful of important passes and always looked to be well in control when on the ball.
Alexsandar Kolarov: 6 – Solid performance from Kolarov. I don’t really have a lot to say about him in this match as he didn’t do anything wildly terrible and didn’t do anything brilliant. He put in various crosses, one of which led to the goal, which is why I’ve given him a 6 and not a 5.
Jesús Navas: 8 – The best performance I’ve seen from Navas in a long time. He played differently against Leicester to how he usually does, and on numerous occasions he ran at the full back and caused problems for him, taking it around him on 2 or 3 separate runs. A polar opposite to his usual ‘get to the fullback, brick it and pass it backwards’ style of play which is entirely infuriating. Added to this, he also delivered some good corners which have become a myth in terms of City’s game. And gave the assist for Milner’s goal, too. Top notch.
David Silva: 8 – Great performance from Silva, he made things tick as usual and created numerous chances for both Aguero and Bony. He was always dropping deep to collect the ball off the centre halves and then giving the ball to the correct man. His movement was good which resulted in him being in the right place to get himself a goal which makes that 10 for the season, his best tally yet for City.
Yaya Touré: 7 – Good showing from Toure. He had most of the ball out of all of our players and barely misplaced any passes. This earned him the most successful passes made in the Premier League for the midweek games with 100 passes in total, with some of these being vital ones to slip Navas in behind Leicester’s full back. Not too shabby in my opinion.
Fernando: 6 – Not Fernando’s worst game I’ve seen him have in City colours but definitely not the best. He looks increasingly nervous on the ball and you can tell he’s not overly comfortable with passing over 10 yards, so more often than not he just gives it to Yaya and lets him do it. This being said he did rack up the second most successful passes made in the midweek games after Toure, with 91 passes in total. He made various good tackles and stopped a few attacks from Leicester.
Wilfried Bony: 7 – The first proper showing in a City shirt of what Bony is capable of. I was really impressed with Bony, mainly due to the fact he forced 5 or 6 good saves out of Mark Schwarzer, and was really unlucky not to get himself a goal after 2 of those shots were cleared off the line. His hold up play is brilliant as you can’t really manoeuvre round the human version of a fridge, can you? He’s also always on the front foot looking to beat the offside trap. I might’ve given him an 8 if he hadn’t made a complete hash of one of his shots which was probably the one he was most likely to score from, but instead kicked it out for a throw in. Nice.
Sergio Agüero: 6 – Not an outlandish performance from the Argentinian. Sergio looked off the ball I thought, and didn’t have many clear cut opportunities to score. That being said his movement was excellent as it always is and he made some good runs across Leicester’s defensive line. He started to come alive a bit more when Bony went off and he started to link up with Silva more frequently, resulting in some good attacking football.
My Man of the Match: Jesús Navas
