After impressing on his return to England on Tuesday night, the Daily Mail believe City could want to bring Luis Suarez back to the Premier League on a permanent basis in what would be a world-record £100 million deal in the summer.
The Uruguayan moved to Barcelona last year for a fee believed to be around £65 million after a brilliant season with Liverpool in which he almost guided them to the title last year, only to be beaten out by City. He faced City for the first time since his Merseyside departure on Tuesday night when Barça visited Manchester in the Champions League, scoring both goals for the La Liga side as they won 2-1.
However, the Mail believe that Barcelona could want Suarez to leave the club, with City potential suitors at £100 million. The Blues were linked with a move for Suarez throughout his time at Liverpool, and even during last summer when it was widely expected he would go to one of Real Madrid or Barcelona – which he eventually did.
The excessive price would probably suggest that this story has very little substance to it, as does the fact that Barcelona are still under a transfer embargo and can’t sign anyone until next January, so even if they did manage to get £100 million (a £35 million profit) for a man who only signed last year they wouldn’t be able to spend any of it.
Luis Suarez has scored 5 goals in 16 games in La Liga since signing last year.
