Edin Džeko has reassured fans of his commitment to City after recent links suggesting he might be looking for a move away from the club, with his latest comments in an interview with news agency Patria, rubbishing speculation.
“Every summer and winter I’m constantly linked with leaving City and I have been here for years now. I will not comment on speculation, because if I did I would have to spend all day doing it.”
“I’ve said before and I will it say again, I am only focused on Manchester City and the national team. I am not interested in other speculation, it’s not worth bothering with.”
“City is a team who wants to win as many trophies as possible so it is quite normal to have a big squad with new signings.”
The speculation about Džeko’s future has escalated over the last month with the signing of Wilfried Bony from Swansea further limiting the Bosnian’s game-time – he’s managed just seven starts this season. However, Džeko spoke highly of his new Ivorian teammate, saying “I really like Bony because I know him from the Premier League, but we all have a place in the team. We will all get a chance to prove ourselves in the remaining games of the season.”
The 28-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs recently, including Stoke City and Fenerbahce. His agent also recently suggested he would only join a “big club” like Atlético Madrid or Juventus.
