City’s hopes of signing Palermo striker Paulo Dybala have been given a boost after he revealed it would be his “dream” to sign for City or Barcelona above other clubs in an interview with Italian magazine Guerin Sportivo.
In the past, Dybala has been likened to a ‘new Sergio Aguero’ (high praise indeed) and has become of great interest to several clubs around Europe after he hit a great vein of form this season in Serie A – he’s scored 11 goals in 22 games this season, assisting another 6 along the way.
Arsenal, Tottenham and United have all linked with trying to bring him to England, as well as City, but he would be a pretty large outlay if he carries on his current form.
The hopes of the teams hoping to capture the 21-year-old were boosted earlier this week when Palermo’s president Maurizio Zamparini has revealed they were likely to lose Dybala very soon, in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss.
Zamparini said, “I find myself in the same situation with Dybala as with Cavani and Pastore.”
“The lad is now in the hands of some people who don’t wish him well. It’s difficult to see him staying at Palermo, maybe someone wants to take him away later, on a free transfer.”
Now, it seems the hopes of City and Barcelona (who are both thought to be interested in him) have been given a further boost after Dybala himself admitted “when I play the PlayStation I always choose Barcelona or Manchester City. It’s my dream to play for those clubs.”
However, in the same interview the Argentine also revealed that he’d “love to play alongside Messi”. City, take note of that.
The Palermo player is yet to play for Argentina, and is also eligible for Poland and Italy, but last year expressed his desire to play for Argentina above all else.
