UEFA have confirmed that Stevan Jovetić is the player who misses out on City’s Champions League venture at least for the rest of the season, as the Montenegrin loses his place in the squad to new signing Wilfried Bony, after days of speculation over who would make way for the newly-signed Ivorian.
It appeared to be a race between just Jovetić and Edin Džeko to see who would lose out to the newest City acquisition, and now that the ‘winner’ has been announced, Jovetić will surely be disappointed, with many seriously considering the possibility of him leaving in the summer, with Juventus heavily linked during the early part of January.
Interestingly, there are also a number of players who left the club on loan during January who’re still in the squad on the ‘B’ list, including Matija Nastasić (who left and went to Schalke), Jordy Hiwula (who joined Walsall on loan) and George Evans (who joined Scunthorpe United on loan).
