Kurzawa Confirms City Visit

Whilst there isn’t likely to be much more activity for City in the January transfer window, an interesting bit of news is that Layvin Kurzawa, a left-back of AS Monaco has confirmed he was on a chartered plane to visit Eastlands last November, as City beat Bayern Munich in that dramatic 3-2 victory. However, he was quick to play down claims he was meeting someone to talk about a possible move to City, report the Express.

On the day of that Champions League game, there were lots of rumours he’d been flown in to watch the game at Eastlands, with many taking that to mean City were trying to one-up their rivals in a race for the player’s signature. Of that link, Kurzawa said, “Manchester? Yes, I was there to see a game this season but there was not a meeting with anyone.”

He was also keen to emphasise his commitment to AS Monaco amid rumours of a switch to one of a number of big clubs. One of these, still in France, is PSG. However, speaking over a possible move to the French champions, the left-back said “PSG? It is true that PSG is a great club. But today I am at AS Monaco.”

He also made it clear that he’d not been in contact with other teams, saying “everything is going well for me, I have a contract until 2018. I have had no contact with PSG or anyone.”

Chelsea and Liverpool have also been linked with a move for the 22-year-old left-back, who has been linked with City as a potential long-term solution for their left-back problem. However, The Blues are likely to face a tough fight to win the signature of the player, given the amount of interest there’s likely to be from other clubs and how committed he appears to be to AS Monaco.
