Scott Sinclair has been announced as an Aston Villa player after weeks of speculation and deliberation, on an initial loan deal with a reported £2.5 million price tag that is obligatory for Aston Villa in the summer, as long as they stay in the Premier League (according to the Telegraph).
This deal ends a poor two-and-a-half years in Manchester, since signing from Swansea on deadline day in 2012. He’s struggled to get into the side for much of that time, and even struggled to really make an impression at West Bromwich Albion last season.
Now, Sinclair will hope to have got his career back on track after completing a loan move to Villa Park. This comes after Paul Lambert declared the deal for Sinclair ‘dead’ last week, but talks reportedly reopened earlier this week regarding a loan deal for the former England youth international.
These talks seemed to move much faster than the previous set did, with the last few weeks of talks stalling over discussions about the price, with Villa only reportedly wanting to pay half of City’s asking price. That lead to Lambert declaring the deal dead, but now it seems Sinclair has finally got his move.
Sinclair has struggled desperately for game-time since he signed for City in August 2012, with Mancini apparently unable to tell the forward why he’d been signed from Swansea. He’s ended up making just 12 league appearances for The Blues, and it’s probably a good move all-round for him to move to Villa. He can get his career back on track, City can lessen their wage bill and free up another place in the squad. He’ll probably be remembered by the City faithful as well, but perhaps not for the right reasons.
