City could be one of a number of clubs missing out on Radja Nainggolan of Roma, with Manchester United and Louis van Gaal reportedly planning on bringing the Belgian midfielder in before Monday’s transfer deadline day, according to the Express.
As well as City and United, Liverpool and Arsenal are also thought to be interested in bringing the 26-year-old midfielder to England for a fee of around £30 million. According to the Express however, United are believed to be closest to signing the Belgian international.
As it stands, Nainggolan is co-owned by Cagliari and Roma, and whilst he is plying his trade in Rome at the moment, any team who want to sign him would have to pay both clubs to release him. United are one of the clubs who reportedly believe £30 million spilt fairly evenly is probably enough to get their man.
Nainggolan has scored 3 goals in 18 games for Roma since they bought half of his rights in the summer. For the four years before that he’d been at Cagliary, scoring 7 goals in 124 league appearances for the Serie A side. He’s also played 8 times for the Belgian national team since his debut in 2009.
