Since Roberto Mancini re-joined Internazionale as their manager for a second spell in charge in November, he has been linked with taking a number of his former City stars to Inter as he tries to rebuild the Nerazzuri to the glory they once had. The latest Blue to be linked with him is Micah Richards, thanks to the Italian news outlet Calciomercato.
The right-back has been on loan at Fiorentina since September, and has struggled to get into the side since, playing just four times in Serie A for La Viola. However, with his contract up in the summer, a number of clubs have been looking into signing the England international, including Chelsea, according to the Guardian.
Mancini worked with Richards at City, and he was the first-choice right-back under Mancini for the first 18 months or so after the Italian arrived at Eastlands. Later in the 2010-11 season, Zabaleta started to be favoured over Richards, which severely limited the game-time that the former Oldham youth player got at City. He’s also been hit by injuries, and has been linked with a move away for some time now. He eventually joined Fiorentina last summer, in a bid to put his career back on track.
However, he’s played just 11 game since he joined the Serie A side, with most of those appearances being substitute appearances and outside of league fixtures. Despite this, Inter have reportedly already approached the 26-year-old’s representatives about a potential move, but there is yet to be a formal offer. However, with his contract at City soon to be up, an offer from a club like Inter is a difficult one to turn down.
Micah Richards has scored 6 league goals in 179 appearances for City since 2005.
