City are reportedly dipping back into the market for another Ivorian, with the Blues ready to move for Eric Bailly, per Duncan Castles on twitter.
Manuel Pellegrini already has a host of defensive options to call upon, the most recent being the £32m purchase of Eliaquim Mangala from Porto. Yet it appears as though the Chilean is eager to bolster his defence, and is said to be impressed with the abilities of Espanyol defender Bailly.
Reports indicate that City have tabled a £7.5m offer for the 20-year old, and then plan on sending the centre-back on loan to Villareal, where he will continue his development.
It seems as though Bailly is a player in a similar mould to current City defender Mangala, but is believed to highly-rated in Spain. With Demichelis and Kompany not getting any younger, perhaps it makes sense to freshen up and build for the future.
However, if this transfer does materialise, it is likely to dent the hopes of the likes of Jason Denayer and Karim Rekik working their way into the City first-team.
