Scott Sinclair’s proposed move to Aston Villa looks to be off after Paul Lambert declared the deal ‘dead’. The forward had reportedly been the subject of discussions between City and Villa and recent weeks, but a disagreements over the asking price have led to Lambert denouncing the deal as dead.
Sinclair has struggled at City since he signed from Swansea in August 2012, playing very few games and starting just three. Indeed, it was reported that in his first season, Roberto Mancini was unable to tell the Englishman exactly why he’d signed him from Swansea City.
For that reason, Sinclair has been keen to leave Eastlands for some time now, in order to try to resurrect what he can of his career. Villa were reported to be one of a number of clubs interested in the 25-year-old, but talks stalled in recent days, with Villa only willing to pay half of what City wanted – The Blues were after £3 million, whilst The Villans only wanted to pay £1.5 million for the former Chelsea man.
When asked about the Sinclair deal in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Lambert said “that’s dead – it’s not going to go anywhere. We just couldn’t really do it.”
Sinclair has played a part in 18 games for City since he signed for £6.2 million, never scoring, and barely even making an impact when on loan at West Bromwich Albion last season.
