With City only having just signed a new striker in Wilfried Bony, there are now more reports they could sign another: Jay Rodriguez, of Southampton. The Blues are thought to be one of a number of clubs interested in signing the young striker, pending an assessment of the injury he picked up in a game against City at Eastlands in the back end of last season.
Liverpool and Tottenham, as well as City, are waiting on him to return from the knee injury he picked up last April, in the hopes they can sign him before the transfer window closes in a few days. The 25-year-old is believed to be rated at about £20 million by his club.
Of course, that fee is probably unfeasible for City at this stage, and questions have to be asked about just where he would fit in at this point, with Aguero, Jovetic, Bony and Dzeko all vying for a maximum of two upfront places.
Rodriguez has scored 26 goals in 76 games for Southampton, since he signed for them from Burnley in the summer of 2012, for around £7 million.
