German side Schalke have secured the services of City’s out of favour defender Matija Nastasic for the remainder of the season.
Schalke have the option to purchase the defender permanently when his loan spell ends on June 30th.
Nastasic made the move to City in the summer of 2012, back when Roberto Mancini was in charge. The Serbian impressed in his debut season in England, yet has found himself frozen out by Manuel Pellegrini.
He made just 11 league starts in last season’s double-winning campaign, and excluding the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, is yet to make a single appearance for the Blues this season.
Despite his lack of appearances in recent times, Nastasic was a hit with City fans for the duration of his City career. The way he stifled Cristiano Ronaldo back in the 2012/13 Champions League campaign will live long in the memory of the Blues faithful.
Schalke have now announced the signing of Nastasic, with the deal going through subject to a medical.
