After an injury-hit 18 months in Manchester, Stevan Jovetic could be on his way out of the club after Juventus bid for the Montenegrin, report the Daily Express. Jovetic has struggled to properly settle in and hit top form in the blue shirt of Manchester City since he signed in the summer of 2013, in part due to his bad luck with injuries last season and for parts of this season.
However, if any deal was to be brokered, it would have to wait until later in the month to be completed. City are in for Swansea striker Wilfried Bony, but he is unable to contribute anything yet due to his absence at the African Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast. Thus, the sale of Jovetic would leave City with just two recognised senior strikers in Aguero and Dzeko. Whilst Pellegrini might not block Jovetic leaving this month, he would certainly like to keep him for as long as he can.
On the other hand though, if Jovetic did depart this month, and City didn’t make too much of a loss (or even a profit), then there might just be enough money left over to complete a deal for Bony AND sign a fourth striker, especially when the money from the potential sales of Nastasic, Scott Sinclair and John Guidetti are considered. So, whilst there will be some distinct sense of disappointment that Jovetic didn’t work out at City, there could be some good that could come from that.
Jovetic has scored 8 goals in 21 league appearances since he signed from Fiorentina for £22 million in 2013.
