Journalist and Sky Sports News presenter Jim White has revealed that after days of speculation, Manchester City are in talks with Swansea City over the possible move of Wilfried Bony to the blue half of Manchester – but Swansea want at least £30 million for the deal to happen.
Bony is currently with his country at the African Cup of Nations, along with City star Yaya Touré in the Ivorian national squad. They don’t play their first game until the 20th of January, meaning a move might be feasible before they kick off their AFCON campaign.
However, before any deal would happen, City would likely have to work out a way to decrease their net spend for the season. As it stands, The Blues’ net spend is around £32 million for this campaign, leaving around £17 million to spend if we’re to comply with the restrictions put upon us by UEFA. Those restrictions could mean a deal couldn’t be brokered until the summer when City are restriction-free.
This news comes after days of speculation surrounding possible new strikers for The Blues, with Christian Benteke another name that had been mentioned.
Bony scored more goals than any other player – including Sergio Agüero – in 2014, and had 34 goals in his 70 games since he joined Swansea City in the summer of 2013.

UPDATE: Bryan Swanson, who also works for Sky Sports, is reporting that talks between the two clubs are in “advanced stages” but no deal has been done yet.
