City’s financial case continues to dominate the headlines on Saturday, with attention turning to what happens next after reports that the club were found guilty on 114 of the 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League.
There has been plenty happening on the pitch too. Rodri has defended the achievements of his former team-mates, Vitor Reis has made his senior Brazil debut and several City players have already been involved during a busy international break.
Here are Saturday’s Man City news and talking points.
What happens next in City’s financial case?
Friday brought the biggest development yet in City’s long-running Premier League case. Reports claimed an independent commission had found City guilty on 114 of the 115 charges brought against them. The commission’s full judgment has not been published and no sanction has been announced.
City responded by stressing that the process remains ongoing, with “significant elements” still to be completed, while an appeal is expected. Attention has therefore moved towards what happens next. Any appeal would be heard by a separate three-person panel, while a separate hearing would be required to determine sanctions.
Our full guide to the next stages explains the appeal process, possible sanctions and why the case could still have some distance to run.
Rodri defends City’s achievements
Rodri was inevitably asked about his former club while on Spain duty ahead of tonight’s Nations League meeting with England. The Barcelona midfielder maintained his belief in City’s innocence and defended what the players achieved during his seven years at the Etihad.
“What we did, they cannot take it out of us.”
Rodri won 14 major trophies with City before leaving this summer and said the success had been earned through the work of the players, coaches and staff.

Reis makes senior Brazil debut
There was a landmark moment for Vitor Reis on Friday as the defender made his senior Brazil debut. The 20-year-old started alongside Marquinhos against Australia in Townsville and played 76 minutes of the 1-1 draw.
Brazil fell behind in the second half before Rayan equalised deep into stoppage time, but Reis could still reflect on a first senior appearance for his country.
Cherki, Donnarumma and Bouaddi in action
Rayan Cherki played 78 minutes as France began Zinedine Zidane’s reign with a 1-0 victory over Turkey. Gianluigi Donnarumma captained Italy and produced a string of saves despite a 2-0 Nations League defeat against Belgium in Rome.
Ayyoub Bouaddi completed the full 90 minutes as Morocco opened their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign by beating Gabon 2-0. There was also plenty of City involvement for England Under-21s. Max Alleyne scored a powerful volley in a 4-2 win over Kazakhstan, with Rico Lewis, Stephen Mfuni and Divin Mubama also starting.
Three City players could face Rodri tonight
There could be another strong City presence at Wembley this evening. Elliot Anderson, Marc Guehi and Nico O’Reilly are all part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the Nations League opener against Spain, which kicks off at 7.45pm.
Rodri could line up on the opposite side following his summer move from City to Barcelona. That gives City supporters another game to follow tonight after an eventful opening few days of the international break.
Off the pitch, however, Friday’s reports have changed the conversation around the club. A decision may have been reached by the independent commission, but the unpublished judgment, sanctions process and expected appeal mean there is still plenty left to resolve.
