Iliman Ndiaye has reportedly made an immediate impression on City‘s coaching staff following his £65m deadline-day move from Everton.
The Senegal international has only been at the club for a matter of weeks, but his attitude and application in training have already been noticed.
Ndiaye earns early praise at City
According to the Manchester Evening News, Ndiaye’s work rate has drawn particularly strong praise from City’s coaching staff. That will please sporting director Hugo Viana, who highlighted the 26-year-old’s mentality and willingness to work when discussing the thinking behind his signing.
Viana also spoke about Ndiaye’s ability to operate in several attacking positions when explaining why City paid £65m for the former Everton forward.
Ndiaye has had little time to settle since his deadline-day arrival. He has already been introduced to Enzo Maresca’s side and started Saturday’s 5-3 Premier League victory over Sunderland at the Etihad.
There were signs of what he can offer in that game, including an early chance created for Erling Haaland, before Jeremy Doku replaced him during the second half.
Maresca kept his assessment fairly simple afterwards. “I think Iliman played quite well.”
There is plenty still to come from a player at the beginning of his City career, but his first few weeks appear to have gone down well with the people working with him every day.
