Why was Man City vs Sunderland moved?
As mentioned above, City had initially been due to face Sunderland on Saturday, but that changed after their Carabao Cup third-round tie against Norwich was scheduled for Thursday night, leaving insufficient recovery time before the original Premier League fixture.
The game was therefore moved to Sunday afternoon and selected for live coverage by Sky Sports.
Enzo Maresca’s side return to league action following their 1-0 derby victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, where Erling Haaland scored the winner despite Phil Foden’s first-half red card.
Foden will be unavailable against Sunderland as he serves the second game of his three-match domestic suspension. City do not play again in the Premier League until their trip to Liverpool on Sunday, 11 October.
