Richarlison decision could reopen door for City transfer target

Richarlison could yet have an unexpected influence on City’s pursuit of Iliman Ndiaye, with Fabrizio Romano suggesting the Everton forward’s future may become open again if the Brazilian does not return to Merseyside.

Tottenham are pushing to sign Ndiaye and have already reached an agreement with the 26-year-old over personal terms.

However, Romano says the proposed move is currently linked to Richarlison accepting a return to Everton.

If that happens, Ndiaye can complete his move to Spurs. If it does not, Romano believes the situation could change again – and specifically mentioned City among the clubs who have had the Senegal international on their list.

City remain in the Ndiaye picture

That does not mean City are about to make a bid.

Their interest is genuine, though, and was reported before Tottenham moved to the front of the queue. David Moyes even addressed City’s interest last week, admitting the timing of any major Everton departure would make reinvesting the money difficult.

BBC Sport now reports that although Everton and Tottenham have largely agreed a deal for Ndiaye, it remains unclear whether the player will ultimately move to north London.

City are also pursuing Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, so Ndiaye may not be their first-choice attacking target at this stage.

But with Romano predicting clarity over Ndiaye’s future on Monday, Richarlison’s decision could yet give City another option during the final hours of the window.
